Here are the top 10 things that a customer want to know and experience on a website based on an article from Entrepreneur,

1.How your business is unique

IT’S THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION for you and your customers. What makes your business truly unique? Or to put it more bluntly–why should shoppers buy from you versus one of your competitors? Do you know?

Although the answer is crucially important, it’s often one area that companies struggle to clearly and effectively communicate.

2. A clear sense of what your company offers

The power of purpose is a huge key to building a successful business.

3. Contact information, including a phone number and physical location

This may seem like a no-brainer, but many companies are purposely vague about their location. Some prefer to do all of their business online and see no need to publish an address or phone number. Others are home-based or they worry that giving a street address or hometown will somehow hinder them.

This is a must!

4. Third-party validation

A company portfolio establishes credibility for your company. It tells someone your company history, the background of your team and highlights actual projects you’ve worked on. When done properly, a company portfolio leaves no doubt in someone’s mind that you’re the best company and team for the job.

5. Secure Socket Layer (SSL)

SSL is an encryption system that helps protect the privacy of data exchanged between a customer and a website. If you have an e-commerce site that takes credit card information, customers want to know that their sensitive data is encrypted. Get SSL if you don’t have it. If you do, let customers know that and about any other safeguards you proactively take.

6. Ease of use and navigation

If people can’t find it, they can’t buy it. Porter advises keeping sites “crisp, clean, and easy to navigate,” but also for site owners to study traffic and usage patterns to adjust their sites based on what visitors are coming for. “The ability to search a site is very important,” he says. “Businesses should study their search data to see if there are trends and what to make front and center.”

7. Clear guidance on your processes

Let customers know, step-by-step, important things such as how to order–and where to go and what to do should something happen out of the ordinary. Customers also want to know your shipping costs and procedures and how they can get status reports. (Don’t list your shipping costs and procedures after people enter their credit card information, Cutler urges.) Last but not least, customers want to know how you handle complaints and problems, return procedures, and whether you have a money-back guarantee.

Your processes can be described in a FAQ (frequently asked questions) page or separate “how to order,” shipping, and/or confirmation pages. Include a way customers can contact your business or fulfillment agency for more information.

8. An ability to give feedback

Product reviews are an essential part of an online store’s branding and marketing. They help build trust and loyalty and typically describe what sets your products apart from others.

9. Clear calls to action

The call to action is a key element on a webpage, acting as a signpost that lets the user know what to do next. Without a clear CTA, the user may not know the next steps to take to purchase a product or sign up for a newsletter and is likely to leave the site without accomplishing their task.

A call to action makes it clear to potential customers which action to take next and helps remove friction in moving the user down the sales funnel. There can also be multiple calls to action on a page if there are multiple desired actions for the user to take.

10. Special offers and personalization

By personalizing a sale with a special offer, incentive, or coupon, small businesses can gain an edge on their bigger counterparts, Porter says. “This can be as simple as a hand-written thank-you note, free gift wrap services, or a special offer for repeat business.

In this modern world, almost everyone is now using smartphones for their day to day activities. People are now searching online for products and services they want to acquire. Having a web and mobile application will surely benefit the business owners in a lot of ways.

From an article written by Rolly Rulete, “Here are the top 5 mobile app development trends set to rule in 2020:

5G Technology

Telecommunication providers worldwide have been priming for the rollout of 5G wireless services since the technology’s initial introduction to the public. Once 5G technology is out in the market, we can expect massive changes in how mobile apps are being built.

The speed of 5G is said to go as fast as over 2 GBps — 100 times faster than 4G. Developers must prepare to optimize existing apps for this huge change.

Streaming apps will be one of the major categories affected as users will experience clearer media and user interfaces. Knowing this, developers might have to consider revisiting and tweaking the UI for a richer experience.

Having a 5G-capable device will also mean uninterrupted, real-time communication, whether that is through voice, video, or chat. This development means a whole new realm of possibilities for new apps to win in the 5G race.

Since the complete rollout across countries is likely to take a few years, developers will have to create and maintain multiple versions of these apps for devices that still run on slower networks.

Chatbots

These days, more and more people use apps such as Messenger and Whatsapp to communicate with their peers. Businesses, such as e-commerce companies, have also taken advantage of that space, making real-time connections with their customers possible by using chatbots. These chatbots exist either within these instant-messaging apps under the company’s name or as built-in chatbots native to their own app.

This year, expect to see the rise of in-app chatbots, as customers now expect instant responses. Experts suspect that over 85% of customer-to-business interactions will be made via chatbots.

This innovation drastically improves the customer support process: automated responses are given to repetitive questions, and anything requiring a more custom response can be forwarded to a human representative. As a result, employees can save time and focus their attention on more pressing tasks, while customers no longer have to endure long waits…”

On-demand services

“On-demand app is an intermediate between customers and businesses of different industries. It enables users to purchase products and services with a few taps in an easy and convenient way. A good example of on-demand apps is Uber and Airbnb.” said Andzhela Angelova.

In 2020, more businesses will be going to the same trend. It is predicted that the revenue for the on-demand app will spike to over $300 billion in five year’s time.

Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR)

“Aside from apps like Pokemon Go — which caused quite a stir for being one of the first mobile games to bring AR features to the masses — AR technologies are being integrated into all kinds of apps.

In late 2019, Google launched Google Maps Live View, a beta version of its AR map with walking directions. The app allows select users of the Google Pixel to get real-time walking directions via the phone’s camera. Its full launch is expected to happen this 2020 for other smartphone brands.

While VR hasn’t been as mainstream as AR because of the need for wearable devices, 2019 has seen a few new apps that showcase the technology. Google’s Expeditions, for instance, is a travel app that allows users to take VR tours around the world’s most famous landmarks.

Companies like Nintendo are also looking into transitioning gameplay from the real world to VR with the help of devices such as the Oculus Rift and the Samsung Gear VR.

AR and VR technologies are still in the process of being fully developed. Having seen what these technologies can do to enhance the user experience, we anticipate AR and VR to be one of the top mobile app development trends this year and for many years to come.

Expect to see them integrated into shopping apps, real estate apps, gaming, and more.

Internet of Things

Companies like Amazon and Google have capitalized on the fact that people have become so reliant on their mobile phones and the internet to perform simple tasks for them.

From searching the internet for information to controlling an entire home through a network of smart gadgets, it seems like technology has made the impossible possible.

Internet of Things or IoT devices are only just in its early stages, and 2020 will definitely see more companies getting into IoT app development, especially with the advent of 5G. By 2021, we expect to have nearly 20 billion active IoT devices in the world.

Popular IoT devices today include:

  • Google Home Voice Controller – A device that lets you control things around your home.
  • August Doorbell Cam – An app that allows you to answer and see who’s at your door from a remote location, anywhere in the world.
  • Belkin WeMo Smart Light Switch – A smart light switch that lets you control your lights: either through the switch itself, your mobile phone, or via voice command.
  • Kuri Mobile Robot – A robot designed to entertain and capture moments around your home through its HD camera.
  • Flow by Plume Labs Air Pollution Monitor – A handheld device that monitors the air quality of your home.” as mentioned in the article in Appetiser.

Mobile Payment and other Instant Apps

Lastly, according to WireDelta, “Тhe development of financial management and means of payment has changed dramatically. Starting with the exchange of goods or services and metal coins, continued through paper money and credit cards, to now become digital with more and more payments happening on your phone.

Digital payments these days have evolved into so-called mobile wallet applications. These are virtual wallets that store payment card information, digital money (e.g Bitcoin), and loyalty cards on mobile devices that make transactions and in-store payments convenient and quicker. Good examples are Samsung Pay, Google Pay, and Apple Pay. Due to its accessibility, the digital wallet showed significant growth in the past 5 years and according to Statista, the users are expected to double by 2020.”

Technology is constantly changing. It gets better over time. The trends will surely keep on evolving. It is somehow good to adapt to these changes to keep your business in a trend that people can acknowledge.

The year 2020 changed the lives of everyone all around the globe but that does not stop technology to emerge and evolve.

According to an article written by Nikita Duggal, here are the top 8 new technology trends for 2020:

1. Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Artificial Intelligence, or AI, has already received a lot of buzz in recent years, but it continues to be a trend to watch because its effects on how we live, work, and play are only in the early stages. In addition, other branches of AI have developed, including Machine Learning, which we will go into below. AI refers to computer systems built to mimic human intelligence and perform tasks such as recognition of images, speech or patterns, and decision making. AI can do these tasks faster and more accurately than humans.

Five out of six Americans use AI services in one form or another every day, including navigation apps, streaming services, smartphone personal assistants, ride-sharing apps, home personal assistants, and smart home devices. In addition to consumer use, AI is used to schedule trains, assess business risk, predict maintenance, and improve energy efficiency, among many other money-saving tasks.

AI is one part of what we refer to broadly as automation, and automation is a hot topic because of potential job loss. Experts say automation will eliminate 73 million more jobs by 2030. However, automation is creating jobs as well as eliminating them, especially in the field of AI: Pundits predict that jobs in AI will number 23 million by 2020. Jobs will be created in development, programming, testing, support, and maintenance, to name a few. Artificial Intelligence architect is one such job. Some say it will soon rival data scientists in need of skilled professionals. To learn more about potential jobs in AI, read about building a career in AI, or why you should earn an AI certification.

2. Machine Learning
Machine Learning is a subset of AI. With Machine Learning, computers are programmed to learn to do something they are not programmed to do: they learn by discovering patterns and insights from data. In general, we have two types of learning, supervised and unsupervised.

While Machine Learning is a subset of AI, we also have subsets within the domain of Machine Learning, including neural networks, natural language processing (NLP), and deep learning. Each of these subsets offers an opportunity for specializing in a career field that will only grow.

Machine Learning is rapidly being deployed in all kinds of industries, creating a huge demand for skilled professionals. The Machine Learning market is expected to grow to $8.81 billion by 2022. Machine Learning applications are used for data analytics, data mining, and pattern recognition. On the consumer end, Machine Learning powers web search results, real-time ads, and network intrusion detection, to name only a few of the many tasks it can do.

In addition to completing countless tasks on our behalf, it is generating jobs. Machine Learning jobs rank among the top emerging jobs on LinkedIn, with almost 2,000 job listings posted. And these jobs pay well: In 2017, the median salary for a machine learning engineer was $106,225. Machine Learning jobs include engineers, developers, researchers, and data scientists.

3. Robotic Process Automation or RPA
Like AI and Machine Learning, Robotic Process Automation, or RPA, is another technology that is automating jobs. RPA is the use of software to automate business processes such as interpreting applications, processing transactions, dealing with data, and even replying to emails. RPA automates repetitive tasks that people used to do. These are not just the menial tasks of a low-paid worker: up to 45 percent of the activities we do can be automated, including the work of financial managers, doctors, and CEOs.

Although Forrester Research estimates RPA automation will threaten the livelihood of 230 million or more knowledge workers or approximately 9 percent of the global workforce, RPA is also creating new jobs while altering existing jobs. McKinsey finds that less than 5 percent of occupations can be totally automated, but about 60 percent can be partially automated.

For you as an IT professional looking to the future and trying to understand technology trends, RPA offers plenty of career opportunities, including developer, project manager, business analyst, solution architect, and consultant. And these jobs pay well. SimplyHired.com says the average RPA salary is $73,861, but that is the average compiled from salaries for junior-level developers up to senior solution architects, with the top 10 percent earning over $141,000 annually. So, if you’re keen on learning and pursuing a career in RPA, the Introduction to Robotic Process Automation (RPA) course should be the next step you take to kickstart an RPA career.

4. Edge Computing
Formerly a technology trend to watch, cloud computing has become mainstream, with major players AWS (Amazon Web Services), Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud dominating the market. The adoption of cloud computing is still growing, as more and more businesses migrate to a cloud solution. But it’s no longer the emerging technology.

As the quantity of data we’re dealing with continues to increase, we’ve realized the shortcomings of cloud computing in some situations. Edge computing is designed to help solve some of those problems as a way to bypass the latency caused by cloud computing and getting data to a data center for processing. It can exist “on the edge,” if you will, closer to where computing needs to happen. For this reason, edge computing can be used to process time-sensitive data in remote locations with limited or no connectivity to a centralized location. In those situations, edge computing can act like mini datacenters. Edge computing will increase as the use of the Internet of Things (IoT) devices increases. By 2022, the global edge computing market is expected to reach $6.72 billion. As with any growing market, this will create various jobs, primarily for software engineers.

If you wish to get a thorough understanding of edges means, and how is it different from cloud computing, give it a read here!

5. Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality
Virtual Reality (VR) immerses the user in an environment while Augment Reality (AR) enhances their environment. Although VR has primarily been used for gaming thus far, it has also been used for training, as with VirtualShip, a simulation software used to train U.S. Navy, Army, and Coast Guard ship captains. The popular Pokemon Go is an example of AR.

Both VR and AR have enormous potential in training, entertainment, education, marketing, and even rehabilitation after an injury. Either could be used to train doctors to do surgery, offer museum-goers a deeper experience, enhance theme parks, or even enhance marketing, as with this Pepsi Max bus shelter.

There are major players in the VR market, like Google, Samsung, and Oculus, but plenty of startups are forming and they will be hiring, and the demand for professionals with VR and AR skills will only increase. Getting started in VR doesn’t require a lot of specialized knowledge. Basic programming skills and a forward-thinking mindset can land a job, although other employers will be looking for optics as a skill-set and hardware engineers as well.

6. Cybersecurity
Cybersecurity might not seem like emerging technology, given that it has been around for a while, but it is evolving just as other technologies are. That’s in part because threats are constantly new. The malevolent hackers who are trying to illegally access data are not going to give up any time soon, and they will continue to find ways to get through even the toughest security measures. It’s also in part because new technology is being adapted to enhance security. As long as we have hackers, we will have cyber security as an emerging technology because it will constantly evolve to defend against those hackers.

As proof of the strong need for cybersecurity professionals, the number of cybersecurity jobs is growing three times faster than other tech jobs. However, we’re falling short when it comes to filling those jobs. As a result, it’s predicted that we will have 3.5 million unfilled cybersecurity jobs by 2021.

Many cybersecurity jobs pay six-figure incomes, and roles can range from the ethical hacker to security engineer to Chief Security Officer, offering a promising career path for someone who wants to get into and stick with this domain.

7. Blockchain
Although most people think of blockchain technology in relation to cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, blockchain offers security that is useful in many other ways. In the simplest of terms, blockchain can be described as data you can only add to, not take away from or change. Hence the term “chain” because you’re making a chain of data. Not being able to change the previous blocks is what makes it so secure. In addition, blockchains are consensus-driven, so no one entity can take control of the data. With blockchain, you don’t need a trusted third-party to oversee or validate transactions. You can refer to our Blockchain tutorial for a detailed and thorough understanding of the technology.

Several industries are involving and implementing blockchain, and as the use of blockchain technology increases, so too does the demand for skilled professionals. In that regard, we are already behind. According to Techcrunch.com, blockchain-related jobs are the second-fastest growing category of jobs, with 14 job openings for every one blockchain developer. A blockchain developer specializes in developing and implementing architecture and solutions using blockchain technology. The average yearly salary of a blockchain developer is $130,000. If you are intrigued by Blockchain and its applications and want to make your career in this fast-growing industry, then this is the right time to learn Blockchain and gear up for an exciting future.

8. Internet of Things (IoT)
Many “things” are now being built with WiFi connectivity, meaning they can be connected to the Internet—and to each other. Hence, the Internet of Things, or IoT. The Internet of Things is the future and has already enabled devices, home appliances, cars, and much more to be connected to and exchange data over the Internet. And we’re only in the beginning stages of IoT: the number of IoT devices reached 8.4 billion in 2017 is expected to reach 30 billion devices by 2020.

As consumers, we’re already using and benefiting from IoT. We can lock our doors remotely if we forget to when we leave for work and preheat our ovens on our way home from work, all while tracking our fitness on our Fitbits and hailing a ride with Lyft. But businesses also have much to gain now and in the near future. The IoT can enable better safety, efficiency, and decision making for businesses as data is collected and analyzed. It can enable predictive maintenance, speed up medical care, improve customer service, and offer benefits we haven’t even imagined yet.

However, despite this boon in the development and adoption of IoT, experts say not enough IT professionals are getting trained for IoT jobs. An article at ITProToday says we’ll need 200,000 more IT workers that aren’t yet in the pipeline, and that a survey of engineers found 25.7 percent believe inadequate skill levels to be the industry’s biggest obstacle to growth. For someone interested in a career in IoT, that means easy entry into the field if you’re motivated, with a range of options for getting started. Skills needed include IoT security, cloud computing knowledge, data analytics, automation, understanding of embedded systems, device knowledge, to name only a few. After all, it’s the Internet of Things, and those things are many and varied, meaning the skills needed are as well.”

These technologies are promising that anticipates great opportunities and great challenges for business owners. Embracing change and adopting new technologies and trends will keep your company competitive in the market. Focusing on new digital transformation will help your business grow.
